Identropy, Inc. Deploys Identity Management System for Major University in Connecticut

- November 01, 2006 - Identropy, Inc., a security & identity management consultancy, deployed a comprehensive identity management system for a major university in Connecticut utilizing Microsoft"s Identity Integration Server 2003 (MIIS 2003). The solution leveraged the university"s existing investment in Active Directory, SCT Banner, Luminis Content Management and other data sources - providing tight integration between disparate data repositories as well as effective end-to-end user lifecycle management.

By automating the task of provisioning user accounts for staff, faculty and students - administrative IT tasks were drastically reduced. Furthermore, the university utilized the dynamic group management feature of MIIS 2003 in order to manage Active Directory distribution and security groups by department data collected from other repositories. This allowed IT Administrators to focus on managing access policy rather than the management of group memberships. Also, the end-to-end user experience was managed by the identity management system. This integration provided university prospects access to the university portal to view relevant prospect information and announcements. Once the prospect is accepted to the university, the identity management system dynamically changes the account role to a "student" thereby providing the same user, while utilizing the same credentials, a completely different portal experience.
