FuelCon Sintering test station set new standards for SOFC fuel cell manufacturing
vergrößern
For several years, FuelCon has supplied its Evaluator S-HT series of test stations to the global fuel cell industry for developing and qualifying high temperature SOFC stack and systems, or hot-boxes. Based on customer feedback and on-going research and standardization of fuel cell production, FuelCon is proud to be the first to introduce manufacturing-scale sintering test stations for optimizing the production of SOFC stacks.
The sintering process is a critical manufacturing procedure in which several ceramic MEAs are interconnected and fixed in place to form the SOFC stack. The sintering process requires not only accurate control and management of the anode and cathode gas flow, but also precise control of the gas composition, temperature and mechanical pressure. In order to assure high production throughput and optimal stack performance, the parameters during this procedure must be precisely defined and controlled, and most importantly it must be reproducible.
The FuelCon sintering test stations were specifically designed to achieve highly reproducible process operation. A key characteristic of FuelCon’s sintering test stations are the special electrochemical analytic tools that enable a significant reduction in the assembly process. In addition, these tools allow the operator to evaluate the quality and performance parameters of the stacks, and therefore optimize stack manufacturing throughput. The editable process scripts keep the sintering process parameters confidential and ensure the protection of our customer’s know-how. To further enhance our customer’s production throughput and manufacturing capacity, FuelCon offers additional options allowing the simultaneous sintering of up to 4 stacks and/or the controlled cooling of the sinter furnace.
Having already delivered these new sintering test systems to several SOFC stack manufacturers, FuelCon has once again set the global standard in providing innovative test technologies and solutions to the fuel cell industry.
