Board responsibility for Sales

Dr. Karl Kolmsee to assume Management with effect from July 1, 2007

Schwandorf, May 23, 2007. Schmack Biogas AG will expand its Management Board with effect from July 1, 2007. Responsibility for the newly established Sales unit will be assumed by Dr. Karl Reinhard Kolmsee (40). In addition to Sales, he will also be in charge of International Business. His main focus will be on integrating and coordinating all sales activities of Schmack Biogas AG and the newly acquired subsidiaries as well as the international activities under a shared marketing and sales strategy.

Dr. Kolmsee’s most recent position was that of General Manager of Arriva Deutschland GmbH, the German subsidiary of Arriva plc., UK, a leading Europe-wide transport service provider employing some 3,000 people and generating sales of EUR 350 million. Between 1999 and 2006, Dr. Kolmsee held various positions in the E.ON Group, most recently that of Sales Manager Industrial Key Accounts at E.ON Sales & Trading and, simultaneously, of CFO at E.ON Polska. In this capacity, he was responsible for sales to key accounts in Germany, Austria, Benelux and France. Apart from his experience from the energy market in long-term contracting models, Dr. Kolmsee, who is a trained farmer and graduate agricultural engineer, has excellent knowledge of the supplier industry.

“Dr. Kolmsee is the right addition to our management team to pool and coordinate our Group’s sales activities and integrate them in the context of the overall strategy. This is a very important aspect, as large energy companies and investors are gaining importance in the biogas market in addition to our main customer group, the farmers,” said Ulrich Schmack, CEO of Schmack Biogas AG. “The enlarged technological basis resulting from our

acquisitions is also making our sales strategy much more diverse, as these subsidiaries will not only supply their products to our company but also continue to operate independently in the market. Thanks to his experience and expertise, Dr. Kolmsee will also be instrumental in pushing ahead our internationalisation. We are looking forward to working with him.”
